Youth Baseball Hitting | Youth Baseball hitting drills and tips

Everyone loves big hits and getting on base in youth baseball. Here are some tips from Coach Brockoff to help your youth baseball player be a better hitter.

I've studied hitters during practice practices (BP) for years and
come to the same conclusion each time. Hitters who take every pitch in
this manner get pops, chops, and routine ground balls with every pitch.
In fact, the going rate of hard hits is three or four out of ten.

Ultimate Baseball - A great warmup or warmdown drill

Here's a competitive game/youth baseball drill your players will love that also serves as a great warm up or practice ending drill. "Ultimate Baseball" is modeled after "Ultimate" - a fast-moving team sport played with a Frisbee on a football field. The only difference in the baseball version is you play with a RIF 1 or safety-soft baseball and gloves. What makes it a great warm up drill is that you can start with as few as four players (2 on 2), and players can join in as they show up. Many of your kids are already familiar with Ultimate as it is a popular among PE teachers for it's simplicity and fun. As youth baseball coaches we are always looking for fun educational experiences for the kids.
Base Running In Youth Baseball | Key Points For Great Baserunning

BASE RUNNING
Key Points For Base Running In Youth Baseball

Base Running is very important in youth baseball. Sadly many coaches put it at the end of practice or wait till it is absolutely necessary before putting it in to practice time. There is only one thing that wins and looses ball games, and that would be runs. You cross the plate one more time than the other team at the end of the game you win. The only way you are going to score runs in youth baseball is from running the bases and might I add running them not only aggressively, but intelligently. Nothing takes the air out of a team more than bad base running in youth baseball, it eliminates the possibility of scoring that runner and that could be and is often the difference in the game. The statement to follow is the basic point I like to instill in base runners..

Three Approaches to Hitting in Youth Baseball

There are three different approaches
to teaching hitting in youth baseball

   - Linear
Hitting
   - Extension
Hitting
   - Rotational
Hitting

From what i have seen, Linear Hitting is what most youth baseball players are taught -- Extension Hitting
is what I was taught -- and Rotational Hitting is what
most major league hitters actually do.

Who Else Wants To Be A better Hitter In A Week?
Explosive
  Hitting Package!

Home Run Power This Season! Bat

How to hit the Ball | Youth Baseball Hitting

When
I ask youth baseball hitters, what is the first step to get prepared to hit the ball hard? I get
several
different responses and for the for the most
part they realize that it is
something we do to get our bodies
prepared to hit. The key is when do we as youth baseball hitters do it? I like to use a term “Early
Load” and
the key word is, early. When is
early? I have a little saying, once
pitchers get some where in the leg raise portion of the windup, a hitter
needs
to be doing something to get their body prepared to hit. Because the hitter who is standing in the box
and is not prepared will have a tough time being a successful
hitter.

The Dugout | My Kid is in the Dugout too much

The dugout is the best place to watch a game. Youth baseball players can learn a lot
about the game and their opponents they are up against. As a coach or
parent, you should instill a mentality that time spent in the dugout
should be focused on the game of baseball. We have all heard "new pitcher" or "watch the pitcher" , we should let all the off-field
distractions fade into the background and watch all the action on the youth baseball field.
Don’t underestimate the power of observation. Youth Baseball players should take in all the
information that is available and use it when it is their turn to take the field.

Here are some things youth baseball players should be looking for while in the dugout..as a coach or parent it does not hurt to remind them occasionally.

Best Deal on Youth Big Barrel Baseball Bats

''Four Base Rundown'' - A Full Team Base Running Drill

Here is a fun and competitive full team drill that is excellent for teaching aggressive base running, which does not come naturally to young players. There is no better drill to teach your players to round the bases, which puts them in position to take an extra base when the opportunity presents itself. This is also great drill to finish a practice - your players won’t be able to wait for next time! Best of all this drill works even on those early spring days when the infield is too soft for a scrimmage. You can even do this youth baseball drill indoors in a gym during the winter months or when rain prevents practicing outside.

Warning
This

Off Season Pitching Workout | Pitching for the Offseason

Spring 2010 will be here before you know it. Here's what to do ahead of time.

For pitchers, the off-season is a time to work hard at getting stronger for the season to come. This involves a combination of workout elements - throwing, running and weight lifting (if your coaches and parents approve).
Here are some things to consider for an off season pitching workout to prepare for the upcoming season.

Have the best pitching team in your league!
